Ban threat to Fakir
Monday 18th August 08
Catalans Dragons second row forward Jamal Fakir is facing the threat of a season-ending suspension after being told to appear in front of the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary panel tomorrow.
The 25-year-old French international has been charged with a reckless high tackle during his side’s 22-20 win over Huddersfield Giants at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday night.
Fakir, who was playing his first game after recovering from an elbow injury, faces a grade C charge which carries a suspension of up to four matches.
The Dragons have two games left of the regular season before going into their first-ever engage Super League play-off match, probably against Bradford Bulls, in Perpignan on Saturday, September 13.
Wigan Warriors full-back Richard Mathers, sent off for the second time in his side’s 32-22 win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, will also front the disciplinary committee tomorrow on a charge of striking with his forearm.
Castleford Tigers hooker Scott Moore, who was sin-binned for a late tackle on Leeds Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield at Headingley on Friday, has also been charged with using his forearm in the tackle.
