Wolves wait on Briers
Wednesday 15th April 09
Former captain Lee Briers faces a late fitness test as he pushes to return for Warrington Wolves' engage Super League clash at Bradford Bulls on Friday.
The stand-off missed the defeats to Salford City Reds and Castleford Tigers over the Easter weekend with a leg injury and is one of a number of players to be checked before the trip to the Grattan Stadium.
Chris Riley and Vinnie Anderson are also hoping to shake off knocks after being named in the 19-man squad while Paul Rauhihi could be a late addition if he overcomes a calf problem.
Yet despite the back-to-back defeats last weekend leaving the Wolves 13th in the table, the club insist no players will be risked unnecessarily.
Wolves assistant coach and former Bradford favourite James Lowes said: "We'll give them all late tests but you can't go to Odsal if you are not 80-plus per cent fit.
"If you are below that there is no point going there and playing. They'll take advantage of that. They are a very good side and it is a very intimidating place to play."
Bradford have also endured a difficult start to the season and are just one place and a point better off than the Wolves.
New Warrington signing Richie Mathers, who is recovering from a hernia operation, is still at least a week away from making his debut.
