Engage Super League players sample Edinburgh

Wednesday 10th March 10

With the Magic Weekend in Edinburgh less than two months away, Engage Super League stars travelled up to the Scottish capital to visit some of the city’s top attractions and launch the exciting Rugby League extravaganza.

The Magic Weekend sees all 14 top flight Rugby League teams in action over one weekend at Murrayfield on May 1 and 2 and gives supporters a great opportunity to explore one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations.

Whilst in Edinburgh the players visited some of Scotland’s most famous visitor attractions including the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Castle and the Scotch Whisky Experience.

Leeds Rhinos star Rob Burrow, said: “Murrayfield is one of the greatest stadiums in the UK, it was a great atmosphere last year and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend and am really looking forward to it again this year.

“I love the concept, it’s a great opportunity for fans to sample a great city.

“There are so many landmarks here and the castle has lots of history and the zoo as well, there’s plenty to do and it’s somewhere you’d like to visit.”

Another Engage Super League star who made the trip was Hull FC’s barnstorming forward Sam Moa who was also enthusiastic about the upcoming event.

Sam Moa said: “It’s a terrific city and we’re looking forward to coming back, seeing the people of Edinburgh and playing in front of all the fans.

“Edinburgh is beautiful, more than anything it has a lot of historical places you can go and see and it’s got a good vibe to the city.

“Scottish people are very friendly and it makes the transition from Hull a lot easier. The people here are very friendly and very easy going.

“Last year was a success and we had lots of people watching the game so it’s going to be really good.”
