Assistant coach Shaun Wane will lead Wigan Warriors into Friday night's clash with Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie after the club confirmed Michael Maguire is to remain in Australia.

Head coach Maguire has been in his homeland since last week to be with his ill father, and Wane took charge of the leaders as they beat Hull FC 46-0 last Friday.

The arrangement will remain the same for this Friday's game, with Wane saying: "It is extremely sad the circumstances in which I have taken over and we all wish Michael and his family well at this time.

"He was able to watch the game last week from home and was in contact straight after the game and I expect the same this week."

Maguire is expected to return to Wigan before their next game, the Engage Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants on August 15.
