Roby free to play in Carnegie Challenge Cup Super League

St Helens hooker James Roby has been cleared to play in Saturday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan Warriors after avoiding suspension at this evening’s RFL Disciplinary Committee.
 
Roby was charged with a Grade A offence for a dangerous throw on Castleford Tigers player Kirk Dixon in Sunday’s 46-26 victory.
 
After taking Roby’s guilty plea and his exemplary disciplinary record into account, the panel issued a future warning of the players conduct and a £500 fine. Castleford Tigers forward John Davies was found guilty of a Grade B offence for dangerous contact on Roby in the 28th minute in the same game. The Tigers forward received a one match suspension and a £300 fine.
 
Harlequins RL player David Howell has been suspended for six matches by the committee this evening.
 
Howell was found guilty of committing a Grade E offence for biting Catalan Dragons opponent Remy Marginet in the 80th minute of Saturday’s 48-22 victory for the French side.  The Australian centre was also fined £300.
 
Quins’ Oliver Wilkes, who also faced the committee following a Grade B late challenge on Catalan’s Marginet in the 34th minute of the same game, has received a one match suspension and fined £300 after the panel felt the incident merited a suspension.
 
Warrington Wolves hooker Micky Higham has been suspended for two matches by the panel. Highham was found guilty of committing a Grade B offence for dangerous contact with Bradford Bulls’ Paul Sykes in the 64th minute of Sunday’s 64-6 victory for the Wolves. Higham was also fined £300.
 
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats player Liam Higgins received a one match suspension and fined £300 for a Grade B offence for a high tackle on Crusaders player Jordan James in the 6th minute of Sunday’s 40-6 defeat for the Wildcats.
