RFL look into biting allegation

30th July 2012
The Rugby Football League are investigating a biting allegation brought by England international Sam Tomkins.
The Wigan Warriors full-back made the claim against Castleford Tigers hooker Ryan Hudson during his side’s 40-16 Stobart Super League win at the DW Stadium last Friday.
The incident was put on report by referee George Stoke and the RFL’s match-review panel today requested more information from Wigan before deciding whether to bring any charges.
When asked about the incident in the post-match press conference, Warriors coach Shaun Wane said: “I need to have a look at that before I make a comment on it. I’d be amazed and disappointed.”
Meanwhile, Hull FC prop Mark O’Meley and Salford City Reds loose forward Stephen Wild will appear before the RFL’s disciplinary committee tomorrow on charges of punching.
O’Meley was sin-binned for his part in the clash during Hull’s 34-26 win over the Reds at the KC Stadium yesterday but both players have been charged with minor grade A offences.
Hull KR centre Jake Webster has been given a formal caution for striking an opponent during his side’s 32-26 win at Widnes Vikings.
