Vickers joins Wildcats board

18th September 2012
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have strengthened their board with the appointment of American-based businessman Richard Vickers, 42, as an associate director.
Vickers, a lifelong Wakefield fan, is hoping to play a key role in the club’s move to a new stadium at Newmarket in time for the 2015 season.
“I’ve spent my professional life working closely with major corporate businesses,” he said.
“As we progress into a new era, there’s an opportunity to move into a new stadium which creates an enormous number of opportunities for investment from the corporate world.
“I’d like to think my experience, not just in networking but in putting business cases forward, would mean that I can add value to representing the club and the city appropriately to get investment from high-profile organisations.”
Wildcats chief executive James Elston said: “Richard’s experience and commercial expertise will be a great asset for the club.
“A fresh pair of eyes from someone who is not immersed in the club day-to-day is hugely valuable to see things from a different perspective.”
