Challenge Cup round-up

19th November 2012
NCL Division One side MILFORD MARLINS cruised past OVENDEN to book their place in next year’s Round One draw.
The Leeds side had too much power for their Halifax visitors, although Division Two Ovenden were still in the game as they trailed just 12-4 at half-time.
Aaron Jones-Bishop and Sam Morton grabbed the host’s first half tries, whilst Pete Williams nipped over to keep the game in the balance.
However, Milford dominated proceedings after the break and registered unanswered touchdowns from John Elkington, Adam Fairhead, Martin Loveridge (who landed five goals in a 14-point haul) and a second from Jones-Bishop.
A try three minutes from time by Ben Walker helped EGREMONT RANGERS win their Cumbrian derby with KELLS 14-8.
A big midweek crowd at The Recreation Ground, Whitehaven, made for a great cup clash as winger Leon Crellin’s try was converted by John Paul Brocklebank to give Egremont a slender 6-0 half-time lead.
Kells levelled two minutes after the re-start as Connor Holliday raced over and Ross Gainford booted a goal, however, Brocklebank immediately hit back with a penalty of his own before he added the extras to Walker’s late effort to complete the scoring.
