Melbourne forward Kevin Proctor has been ruled out of his side’s World Club Challenge clash with Leeds Rhinos later this month after sustaining a knee injury in the Storm’s warm-up match in Geelong today.

The 23-year-old second rower, who was in the Melbourne side that beat Canterbury Bulldogs 14-4 in the 2012 NRL Grand Final and made his New Zealand Test debut against Australia in Townsville in October, suffered medial ligament damage during his side’s 40-8 defeat by Canberra.

Winger Matt Duffie and rookie Richie Kenner scored tries for the Storm in their only run-out before they meet the Super League champions at Headingley on Friday, February 22.

Melbourne set off for London on Monday and have arranged an opposed training session with Halifax three days before they take on the Rhinos.

The Australian premiers also have doubts over full-back Billy Slater and scrum-half Cooper Cronk, who have both withdrawn from this weekend’s NRL All Stars match.
