Elima handed lengthy ban

France captain Olivier Elima has been suspended for four matches after being found guilty of dangerous play.

The Catalan Dragons forward, who captained his country in the 2013 World Cup, was put on report by referee Ben Thaler for twisting the legs of Hull FC hooker Aaron Heremaia during his side's 36-34 opening Super League defeat at the KC Stadium last Friday night.

Elima was charged by the Rugby Football League's match-review panel with a grade D offence, which carries a ban of between three and five matches, and he was given a four-game suspension when he appeared before the RFL's disciplinary committee in Leeds on Tuesday.

Heremaia's team-mates reacted with anger to the tackle and Hull coach Lee Radford said in the post-match press conference: "If he's gone to roll his ankle, that's an act of cowardice."
