Specsavers has renewed its commitment to professionalism and fair play in sport as an official partner of the First Utility Super League.
Primarily sponsoring the match officials, Specsavers has also teamed up with Leeds Rhinos player Jamie Peacock as its eyesight ambassador on the pitch.
Benefiting from the partnership, Jamie joined a group of referees at the Specsavers store in Albion Street, Leeds, last week to ensure their eyesight was up to scratch and firmly focused on their game.
Specsavers marketing director Richard Holmes said: “This sponsorship builds on our existing sporting pledge to help the experts to see. Technological advancements in recent years have certainly helped match officials but we’re glad to do our bit where we can to help ensure that they get the best possible support to do their job.”
Jamie said: “It’s great to be working with Specsavers and that they want to be part of our great game. Good eyesight is crucial in sport, both for the players and the referees, and I’m delighted to be able to help Specsavers raise awareness in this.”
Partnering the Super League follows Specsavers successful sponsorship of the match officials at Rugby League World Cup 2013.
Super League referee Richard Silverwood, who also officiated in RLWC2013 games, said: “It’s a great fit with Specsavers and the sponsorship works really well. Good vision is massively important for the match officials as without it we wouldn’t be able to do our job.”
