Catalan Dragons have signed Australian half-back Sam Williams from St George Illawarra Dragons to the end of the First Utility Super League season.
The 23-year-old, a former Junior Kangaroo, will provide competition for half-back places at the Dragons, who are still without Scott Dureau after he ruptured a bicep in the second match of the season in February.
"We were looking for another player to be able to do rotations and to create a good healthy competition in our halves," said Catalan coach Laurent Frayssinous.
"Sam was looking for an opportunity. He is a talented and ambitious young player and will fit in well to our style of play."
Williams made 42 appearances for Canberra, where he was named rookie of the year in 2011, before moving at the end of last season to the Dragons, for whom he has made just four NRL apperances.
"We have a tough end of season with big games at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium and we are still on course to reach our objective of qualifing for the play-offs," said Catalan chief executive Christophe Jouffret.
"Sam will boost our squad in this crucial period and he will bring his experience to our group."
