Huddersfield Giants back rower Michael Lawrence makes his comeback from an ankle injury and coach Paul Anderson includes Luke George, Larne Patrick, Ukuma Ta'ai, Jamie Cording and Matty Dawson in his initial squad. Former Widnes Vikings forward Anthony Mullally makes way, along with Stuart Fielden, Jacob Fairbank and debutant Peter Aspinall.

Widnes coach Denis Betts swaps his entire front row and brings in youngsters Adam Lawton, Grant Gore and Tom Gilmore, who have two Super League appearances between them. Ben Kavanagh, Phil Joseph, Macgraff Leuluai and Ben Davies are among the additions.
