Harrison Hansen and Theo Fages scored two tries each as Salford Red Devils made it two wins from two in First Utility Super League with a comfortable 44-18 victory over London Broncos.

Hansen and Fages' efforts were part of an eight-try assault at The Hive, with the Red Devils having sewn up the victory before the break.

For the Broncos it was another harsh life lesson for their hastily-assembled squad.

The two sides entered the contest in very different form - London having been demolished by Widnes Vikings in week one, while Salford had squeezed by Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The hosts lined up as they did in that defeat, while the visitors were forced to cope without the injured Adrian Morley and Rangi Chase, Fages slotting in at stand-off.

There was also a first Salford start of the season for Martin Gleeson, who captained the side.

It was the Red Devils that threatened first when Fages broke clear early on, only for the ball to go to ground, but within seconds London came close themselves, Mason Caton-Brown breaking tackles only to see his offload to Mike McMeeken spilled.

And it was the men from the capital who struck first, Scott Moore pouncing to touch down after Salford full-back Jake Mullaney spilled his kick through on 11 minutes.

But the Red Devils were level within four minutes, Hansen striding through a huge gap to score at the posts.

And four minutes later they were ahead, Danny Williams scampering over in the corner after a flowing move involving Lama Tasi and Francis Meli.

The visitors increased their lead in the 27th minute and it was Hansen again, seizing on a Tim Smith chip over the defence to canter over the line.

Despite their advantage Salford were proving sloppy in defence, and received a let-off when Mike Bishay spilled the ball as he twisted over the Red Devils line on the half-hour mark.

Salford were having no such problems in attack, with Fages rounding off a neat handling before Smith finished a Tommy Lee break to give the visitors a 26-6 interval lead.

Tempers flared twice within seconds after the restart and it was Salford's Gareth Hock who was sent to the sin-bin after an altercation with London's James Cunningham.

But the Broncos were unable to make their numerical superiority count, Salford comfortably holding them at arm's length.

In fact, it was the Red Devils who were to score the first try of the second half with 59 minutes played, Mullaney showing a terrific turn of pace to burst clear of the London defence and scamper over under the posts.

Mullaney was then the architect for Salford's next try five minutes later, racing away from half-way, with the ball shifted wide for Meli to stroll over.

London received the reward their efforts warranted with a second try of their own in the 70th minute, George Griffin burrowing over from close range.

And there was still time for a further try each in the closing moments, Fages exchanging passes with Meli to touch down for Salford, with McMeeken showing great strength to muscle over for the home side.
