Salford launch on SLTV

Friday afternoon saw Salford City Reds become the first team in 2009 to hold their engage Super League Media Day and officially unveil their squad to the press for the forthcoming season.
SLTV caught up with the Coach and Squad to get their thoughts on the upcoming season.
Held in the Great Hall at Club Sponsors The Trafford Centre, interest in the returning Super League new boys was at an all-time high, with TV and print journalists turning out in never-before seen numbers to photograph, film and interview the Reds players. For many it was a first opportunity to speak to the new arrivals and some of the new youngsters Head Coach Shaun McRae has promoted this year, including local Salford boys Lewis Palfrey and Jack Spencer.
Each club in the engage Super League holds a media day but with the Reds hectic schedule over the coming weeks until the start of the season the day was brought forward a few weeks earlier to accommodate it.
It was also the occasion of the annual official Team Photograph and in with a break from tradition, this year’s shot features both the home and away playing kits.
Reds Communications Manager Paul McNally said: “We wanted to get both kits in the shot and the result has been great. Our away kit showcases our link with the City Council with the magenta colouring and it’s also a shirt that our fans can get their hands on for free if they purchase a season ticket before the end of the month.
“Today has been really good for us and will raise a lot of awareness regarding what we are about. All these guys here today will now go away and write good things about the Reds and with good reason to do so, 2009 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the club on and off the field already.” McNally concluded.
