Update | Man of Steel

Due to on-going disruption to fixtures caused by Covid-19, Betfred Super League can confirm that the ranking system for the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award in 2021, will be adjusted to be ranked by average points per game, as was the case in 2020.

The change is required to protect the integrity of the competition due to the significant disruption caused to the fixture schedule by Covid-19 in the past few weeks along with the inability to guarantee that every club will play the same number of matches by the end of the season.

The revised system is calculated by dividing the number of points gained by the player by the number of games played by that player’s team (the table below gives an example).

The scoring system of three players being awarded 3,2 and 1 points by a member of the Man of Steel panel will remain unchanged.

In line with the changes made to the league table for this season, a team must have played a minimum of 15 games and a player must have made a minimum of 10 Betfred Super League appearances in order to be considered for the end of season Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award.

Using the new points per game calculation the latest Man of Steel table looks like this.
