Wolves sign Dufty

Warrington Wolves have announced the signing of Matt Dufty from NRL side Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on a two-and-a-half-year deal with immediate effect.

The 26-year-old is one of the sport’s most exciting full-backs with an array of skill and electric speed which helps to open up defences. He has clocked a top speed of 36.6km/h this season – faster than any Betfred Super League player this campaign.

The Australian boasts an impressive try-scoring record crossing on 45 occasions from his 96 NRL appearances to date. The speedster came through the ranks at St George Illawarra Dragons where he spent five seasons before switching to the Bulldogs.

Dufty will fly to the UK this weekend and will be eligible to make his Super League debut for the Wire away to Huddersfield Giants in Round 21 next Saturday.

Matt Dufty said: “The opportunity to come over to Warrington and test myself in Super League is an exciting one.
“From my conversations with Daryl [Powell] the way he wants the game to be played is something that I feel can really suit my game.

“My best footy is still in front of me and I’m excited to showcase what I can do in England in front of the Warrington fans.

“It’s a challenge I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to rip in now for the Wolves.??

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Daryl Powell said: “Matt’s a player who I’ve been trying to sign for a few years.
“He’s a player who I feel will benefit massively from coming over to the UK. He’s a perfect fit for Super League and the way the game is played over here.

“He’s fast, strong, aggressive and competitive. He’s an all-round great signing for us and I’m excited for him to come over and to have an important impact for the remainder of this season and beyond.??
