Round 23 predictions

Warrington Wolves v Toulouse Olympique

The biggest game of Warrington’s season. It was inconceivable to imagine the Wolves in a relegation battle at the start of the year but that’s where they are. Nothing less than a win against Toulouse will be sufficient to ensure Daryl Powell’s side avoid a nervy run home.

Toulouse have lost their last three games – all of which were very winnable – and now have a mountain to climb to stay in the competition. Both Toulouse and Warrington have a habit of throwing leads away – whoever can hold their nerve should come out on top.

Prediction: Wolves by 8

Castleford Tigers v Catalans Dragons

This is a significant game in the context of both team’s seasons. Castleford's recent momentum has come to a halt after two losses on the bounce, and their spot in the top six is no longer a certainty. Despite sitting in fifth, there’s just two points between themselves and ninth place, making the last five matches crucial as we approach the Play-Offs.

Catalans have failed to reach the heights of 2021 but remain comfortably in the top four. It’s imperative they start to rekindle some of the form which saw them reach a maiden Grand Final if they are to repeat that feat – or go one step further – this year.

Prediction: Dragons by 4

Hull KR v Leeds Rhinos

The big games just keep on coming! Hull KR’s valiant effort against Toulouse last time out has kept them well in the Play-Off race. Down on troops, the Robins have shown immense resilience to be in with a fighting chance of replicating their 2021 regular season finish.

They face a Rhinos side who look to have found their stride as of late. A win against fellow Play-Off hopefuls Salford in Round 22 has propelled the Rhinos into sixth place – but their spot isn’t safe yet. The Robins will need more troops on deck to get past a confident Leeds side.

Prediction: Rhinos by 10

Salford Red Devils v Huddersfield Giants

More Betfred Super League action on Channel 4! Salford will be determined to get back into the winners circle after a tough loss away at Leeds last time out. Their home form has been pretty good in 2022 and Paul Rowley's men will fancy their chances of taking another top four scalp on Sunday.

For Huddersfield, a top two finish isn’t entirely out the question this season. Wigan would need to drop points for it to come to fruition, and Ian Watson’s side wouldn’t be able to afford to drop points. There’s plenty to play for on Channel 4 this weekend.

Prediction: Red Devils by 2

Hull FC v St Helens

Far from their best in Round 22, Saints did enough to get back to winning ways. They’re edging closer to the League Leaders’ Shield but have Wigan hot on their heels with five rounds still to play.

They face a Hull FC team still chasing a top six spot but with work to do. Brett Hodgson’s side have a favourable home with four of their five games being played at the MKM Stadium. But whether they're home or away, a clash against the Champions is an extremely tough assignment.

Prediction: Saints by 12

Wakefield Trinity v Wigan Warriors

Although Wakefield have managed just one win in their last four matches, they’ve shown plenty of endevaour. A golden point defeat to the Champions and a narrow loss to Catalans last week proves that Trinity can compete – and they will be hoping to go one better against Wigan on Sunday.

It’s hard to look past a Warriors win, however, given how sharp their attack has been this year. They have genuine strike weapons across the pitch and are tough to stop going forward. They will also be determined to keep the pressure on top spot – and nothing more than a convincing win will suffice.

Prediction: Warriors by 16
