Jake Connor excited for Anfield

Jake Connor set to make memories at the football club he supports.

Avid Liverpool FC supporter Jake Connor insists that he won't be fazed by the feeling of playing at Anfield Stadium in next week's Dacia Magic Weekend as Hull FC go in search of a crucial two points against his former club Huddersfield Giants.

The England international cut his teeth in Super League with the Giants in 2013, and his progression in recent years with Hull FC has been nothing short of outstanding.

Since joining the Black & Whites ahead of the 2017 season, Connor has established himself as a real fans favourite at the KCOM Stadium, known for his tormenting demeanour and impressive skill set.

Connor, who made his England international debut in sensational style by scoring a try and assisting two more against New Zealand in Denver last year, featured in the autumn Test series against the Kiwis.

The 24-year-old scored a try in the first match at the KCOM Stadium, before scoring an important try against Michael Maguire's men at Anfield the following week, which helped England lift the Baskerville Shield at Elland Road.

Despite being a self-confessed Liverpool FC die-hard fanatic, Connor insists that experiencing the Anfield atmosphere before will help him control his emotions when he comes to face Huddersfield at next week's Magic Weekend.

"I've played there before and I know exactly what the atmosphere is going to be like. It might be a bit more of a party atmosphere with there being fans from different clubs all coming together, but I feel comfortable having played there before," he told hullfc.com.

"To get the opportunity to go there again is going to be a massive honour. I feel like we have a chance to go there and make some great memories.

"As a kid, I always dreamed of playing at Anfield, whether it was a football player or a rugby player.

"Watching the way Liverpool have played this season probably makes me more excited to play at Anfield next weekend.

"The win against Barcelona in the Champions League last week was one of those magical nights that will go down in history. I was sat at home watching the game with my pals and I don't think I had a voice left by the end of the game!

"To think we'll be playing on that pitch in just over seven days is something that really excites me and hopefully we can get the win."

The Magic Weekend occasion will be extra-special for the 24-year-old, who goes up against his former club Huddersfield on Saturday 25th May (4.30pm kick-off).

"I think I'm over the stage of it being a strange feeling now. The first couple of times I played Huddersfield with Hull was weird going up against some of the boys I grew up with, but I'm past that now," he said.

"Huddersfield are no different to any other team in Super League in my mind. Whether I've still got mates there or not, I'm a Hull FC player now and I have been for the last three years, so I will be going out there wanting to get the two points."
