Bradford Bulls have handed full-time contracts to two 18-year-olds from their under-19s academy squad.

Alex Mellor, a back row forward who joined the Bulls from Halifax amateur club King Cross, and Nathan Conroy, a hooker from Dudley Hill in Bradford, were both members of the England Academy squad that played in France last month and will start training with the Super League squad on July 1.

Bradford coach Francis Cummins said: "The academy side has had a tough season but Alex and Nathan have still stood out and you can see their talent.

"It's all about producing players for the first team and now they are going full-time you will see the benefits of that."
