Longer lay-off for O'Loughlin

14th June 2013

Wigan Warriors will be without captain Sean O'Loughlin for another month after being told he needs a knee operation.

The loose forward has missed his club's last two games with the injury and was ruled out of England's game against the Exiles tonight.

"It's obviously a blow because Sean is our leader and we're entering an important part of the season," Wigan coach Shaun Wane told the Wigan Evening Post.

"We were hoping the injury would settle down and we gave it a couple of weeks but he needs an operation.

"While it's disappointing for Sean, it provides an opportunity for someone like Greg Burke to come in and see what he can do and stake his claim for a more regular spot."

Either Sam Tomkins or Harrison Hansen will captain the Warriors in O'Loughlin's absence.
