Wardle agrees long-term Warriors deal

Wigan Warriors have announced that centre Jake Wardle has signed a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until the end of the 2029 Betfred Super League season.

Wardle missed just one game in his debut season with the Warriors in 2023 helping the club to the League Leaders' Shield and Betfred Super League trophies. His performance at Old Trafford saw him win the coveted Harry Sunderland Trophy after being named in the Super League Dream Team.

The 25-year-old's form has continued into the early part of the 2024 as Wardle was a try-scorer in Wigan's memorable World Club Challenge triumph over NRL Premiers Penrith Panthers at the DW Stadium.

On the new deal, Wardle said: "Since I signed I've made everyone aware that I really enjoy it here. It definitely feels like home and I can?t wait to see what happens in the next five years.

"The 18 months I've been here so far have been enjoyable and I'm looking forward to more enjoyable moments."

Head Coach, Matt Peet added: "We're very happy, he's a fantastic player and I think he's in great form at the moment.

"He's just a fantastic lad, very popular in the playing group - low maintenance, high performance and he's a pleasure to work with. He's a proud father, a family man and hopefully his family are as pleased as we are to have his future secured at Wigan."

Wardle's Wigan face St Helens on Good Friday in a classic Rivals Round fixture and you can watch it live on Sky Sports from 3pm.
