2020 Signings Dream Team

Who would you pick if you had to pick a team of the 2020 signings?

Alex Walker

Alex Walker made the Million Pound tackle which helped London Broncos beat Toronto Wolfpack in the 2018 Million Pound game to earn his side promotion to Super League. Last year, he put in some impressive displays at full back for London again to earn a move to Wakefield Trinity after London’s relegation. 

Mahe Fonua 

Hull FC fans were definitely excited about the return of Mahe Fonua to the club after he penned a three-year contract with the club from NRL side Wests Tigers. The arrival of Fonua will definitely get Super League fans on the edge of their seats as long as it’s not your team playing against him. 

Jake Bibby

Jake Bibby helped take Salford Red Devils to the 2019 Grand Final, he also scored in the final. Wigan’s executive director, Kris Radlinski, said after the signing of Bibby: “He is well-built, strong ball-carrier who possesses great footwork and has an eye for the try-line.??

Anthony Gelling

It’s the return of the ‘Man of the People’, Anthony Gelling spent last year in the Betfred Championship with Widnes Vikings, he makes the short move across to Warrington Wolves. Gelling will link up with his former Wigan teammates: “To link up with some of my old Wigan buddies in Jack Hughes and Josh Charnley too was one of the key factors in signing here.??

Sosaia Feki 

The Tongan international winger joins Castleford Tigers from Cronulla Sharks in the NRL. Feki has been described as a strong ball-carrier and excellent finisher scoring 62 tries in 139 games for Cronulla. 

Gareth Widdop 

The English born star has spent all of his playing career in the NRL, debuting for Melbourne Storm and winning the competition in 2012 for the club, two years later he moved to St George Illawarra Dragons. Warrington announced the signing for 2020 at the start of the 2019 season. 

Jackson Hastings

Wigan Warriors’ signing of the 2019 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award winner, Jackson Hastings could be the difference between Wigan winning the Grand Final and just reaching the play-offs. Hastings replaces George Williams who has left the club for Canberra Raiders following in the footsteps of Ryan Sutton and John Bateman.

George Burgess 

Another Wigan signing this time it’s England international forward George Burgess, he signed for the Cherry and Whites from South Sydney Rabbitohs. Wigan coach Adrian Lam described Burgess as ‘one of the world’s best front-rowers’. 

Matt Parcell

Matt Parcell joined Hull KR on loan from Leeds Rhinos towards the end of the season, his loan spell was cut short after an injury to his shoulder. Parcell said on committing to 2020:

“It was always the plan to stay here for 2020, so it is great to get the deal sorted and have the opportunity to work with Tony again.??

Tyla Hepi 

One of the most sought-after prospects in the Betfred Championship, Castleford Tigers announced the signing of Tyla Hepi from Toulouse Olympique. The New Zealand prop is the son of former Hull, Featherstone and Castleford player Brad Hepi. 

Josh Jones

Josh Jones made the 2019 Super League Dream Team alongside his Salford Red Devils teammate Jackson Hastings. Jones will make the move north to Hull FC, after he returns from the Great Britain tour in New Zealand. 

Manu Ma’u 

Hull FC announced the signing of Manu Ma’u from Parramatta Eels, otherwise known as the Tongan terminator. Ma’u was nominated for the Dally M second rower of the year award for 2019. 

Luke Yates

Luke Yates joined London Broncos teammates Elliot Kear and Rhys Williams in joining Salford Red Devils after Broncos’ relegation from Super League. Yates made 28 appearances for London making 1211 tackles.
