WHAT IS SUPER LEAGUE?
The Betfred Super League is the elite Rugby League competition in the Northern Hemisphere, established in 1996.
The league consists of 14 teams, played over 27 rounds and a three-week Play-Offs Series, before culminating at Old Trafford, Manchester, for the Betfred Super League Grand Final where the season champion is crowned.
Working with the Governing Body, Rugby Football League, Super League is committed to diversity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination under the TACKLE IT action plan.
How many teams compete in the Betfred Super League?
There are currently 14 teams who compete in the Betfred Super League, with three new teams joining ahead of the 2026 season.
The 14 teams are: Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos, Leigh Leopards, St Helens, Toulouse Olympique, Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Trinity, Wigan Warriors & York Knights.

How does the Betfred Super League work?
The Betfred Super League has 27 regular season rounds which sees each team play each other home and away with an additional round known as Magic WKND which sees the fiercest rivalries take place at The Hill Dickinson Stadium in 2026.
The clubs who finish inside the top six after the 27 regular season rounds go into the play-offs with the season culminating at Old Trafford with the Betfred Super League Grand Final. The club that finishes top of the Betfred Super League table at the end of the regular 27 round season is awarded the League Leaders’ Shield.
The 2026 Betfred Super League season kicks off on Thursday 12 February as newly promoted York Knights host champions Hull KR and will finish at Old Trafford with the Betfred Super League Grand Final on Saturday 3 October.

Who are the reigning Betfred Super League champions?
Hull KR are the reigning Betfred Super League champions after completing a historic treble also including the League Leaders’ Shield and Betfred Challenge Cup.
The Robins became just the fifth team to ever win the Betfred Super League with their 2025 victory.
How many teams have won the Super League?
Five teams have won the Betfred Super League - St Helens, Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and, most recently, Hull KR.

Is there only a Men’s Super League competition?
No, there are also Women’s and Wheelchair Betfred Super League competitions.
The Betfred Women’s and Wheelchair Super League both consist of eight teams.
Women’s Teams: Barrow Raiders, Featherstone Rovers, Leigh Leopards, Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens, Wigan Warriors & York Valkyrie.
Wheelchair Teams: Bradford Bulls, Halifax Panthers, Edinburgh Giants, Hull FC, Leeds Rhinos, London Roosters, Sheffield Eagles & Wigan Warriors.
