Round Six: Five to Watch

Who you should keep an eye on in Round Six.

Harry Newman

An early prediction for the 2020 Super League Young Player of the Year. Harry Newman was awarded the number three jersey at the start of the year; he’s lived up to that expectation. He was brilliant again against Warrington last week, and he’ll be impressive again tonight!

Liam Marshall

Liam Marshall scored what could be the try of the season already. He collected the ball straight from kick-off, a short chip and chase before sprinting to the try line to score against Huddersfield. He’s scored four tries in five games and made 587 metres so far this season.

Joe Westerman

Joe Westerman will face his old side at the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Friday night. Westerman had two spells at Hull FC playing over 150 appearances for the Black and Whites. He’s had a positive start at Wakefield, scoring two tries and making over 300 metres although his side have only won two games.

Jake Trueman

It seems as though Jake Trueman has been around the Super League scene for years and it’s easy to forget that the halfback is still only 21-years-old. He’s already represented England and Great Britain; he’s also won the Young Player of the Year. Trueman has formed a new and exciting partnership with another young halfback Danny Richardson, and the two have been influential in Tigers’ good start to the season.

Sam Tomkins

He’s played three games this season for Catalans Dragons and managed to score four tries, make more clean breaks than any other player, whilst making over 100 metres per game. His stats are impressive - stats don’t always tell the full story – but Tomkins stats do tell his 2020 story so far. The fullback returns to Perpignan this weekend against a struggling Salford side and I suspect he’ll add to his try scoring exploits this weekend.
