Disciplinary: Tommy Makinson & Grant Millington

Tommy Makinson has been suspended for five matches, and fined £500, after being found guilty of Contrary Behaviour in St Helens’ Betfred Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers on Sunday.

An RFL Operational Rules Tribunal determined that the offence was a Grade E, the fifth of the six available categories. The Tribunal believed the incident merited a six-match suspension. However Makinson’s previous good record, plea of guilt and clear remorse were taken into account in determining the punishment of a five-match ban.

Grant Millington of Castleford had been charged with two separate offences during the game by the RFL’s Match Review Panel.

The ORT ruled that a caution would be sufficient punishment for a Grade A charge of dangerous contact on Theo Fages in the 40th minute.

Millington then accepted a Grade A charge of dangerous contact on Jonny Lomax in the 48th minute, which had not been recommended to carry a sanction.
