Round 10 predictions

The Betfred Super League action continues in Round 10 with three games broadcast live across the weekend!

Castleford Tigers v St Helens

The St Helens squad looks almost unrecognisable in Round 10 with Kristian Woolf making a host of changes after a busy Easter period.

It presents Cas with a huge chance to knock off the Champions and earn their fourth Betfred Super League win on the bounce. Lee Radford’s side picked up two important wins over Easter and will be full of confidence heading into Friday.

The Tigers will need to ensure they don’t go into Round 10 complacent. Saints are Champions for a reason and their winning culture runs right through the club. They certainly won’t be going to the Jungle to make up the numbers, but inexperience could prove costly.

Prediction: Tigers by 10

Leeds Rhinos v Toulouse Olympique

Who would have predicted at the start of the year that after 10 rounds, this fixture would be a bottom of the table battle?

After the Rhinos recent head coach announcement, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. But the focus remains on Friday and the importance of a win cannot be understated. Leeds have won just once all season and a loss to Toulouse would send them bottom of the table.

Toulouse have shown plenty of fight in their recent fixtures and were unlucky to get nothing out of their last match against Hull KR. Nevertheless, their performances away from home haven’t quite matched their form in France, so the Rhinos should be able to get the job done.

Prediction: Rhinos by 6

Warrington Wolves v Huddersfield Giants

The Wolves and Giants seem to be having contrasting seasons. Warrington have stuttered through the opening third of the year whilst Huddersfield have found a new lease of life in 2022.

That being said, the two sides are separated by just three points and head into Round 10 looking to rectify defeats sustained on Easter Monday. A win for the Wolves will help them maintain their fight for a top six spot, and a win for the Giants would keep them pushing near the top.

This promises to be a closely fought contest which could go either way on the day.

Prediction: Wolves by 2

Hull KR v Wakefield Trinity

The Robins are flying! They’ve won four of their last five Super League games and had a hugely successful Easter period. Their form is steadily improving and they face a Trinity side that will be low on confidence after a difficult week of results.

Tony Smith’s surprise mid-week announcement that he will be leaving Hull KR at the end of the year could possibly shake things up on Saturday – it will be interesting to see how his team responds. There’s a chance for Wakefield to capitalise on a potentially unsettled Robins side when they travel to Craven Park in Round 10.

Despite Hull KR’s recent run of results, there may well be an upset on the cards.

Prediction: Trinity by 1

Wigan Warriors v Salford Red Devils

Salford need a win. After victories in the opening two rounds, they’ve managed just one win in their last seven games. And it won’t get any easier when they travel to the DW Stadium on Sunday.

The Warriors cruised past Wakefield at home on Monday and with Bevan French getting better every week, they have some serious strike power in their arsenal.  Add to that a forward pack which will undoubtedly cause the Red Devils middle some problems, and Salford could be in for a long afternoon.

Zak Hardaker's release from the club is certainly not ideal for Wigan's preparations this week, but it shouldn't unsettle the camp too much.

Prediction: Warriors by 18

Hull FC v Catalans Dragons

The Black & Whites narrowly defeated Warrington on Monday – it was a much-needed win after a lacklustre display in the Hull derby. That win helped FC consolidate their place in the top six and leaves them jut four points behind this Sunday’s opponents.

The Dragons had a successful Easter with two wins in quick succession and will be favourites on Sunday Night. Catalans big forward pack has the potential to nullify Hull FC’s biggest threat – their middlemen.

This should be a humdinger of a battle down the middle, but the Dragons talented spine could make all the difference.

Prediction:  Dragons by 8
