Launching Leopards

Club owner Derek Beaumont has embarked on an ambitious rebrand and relaunch of Leigh as they head into Betfred Super League in 2023.

The club, formerly Leigh Centurions, will now be known as Leigh Leopards.

Beaumont announced the new identity during an event held at Leigh Sports Village, which also saw the unveiling of no fewer than 10 new signings for 2023, including the high profile captures of Ricky Leutele and Zak Hardaker.

Alongside Hardaker and Leutele, Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam also confirmed that a quintet of players were joining from Warrington Wolves; Oliver Holmes, Matt Davies, Jack Hughes, Robbie Mulhern and Jacob Gannon.

They will be joined at the new-look Leopards by Gareth O'Brien, Tom Briscoe and Nathan Wilde.

Also confirmed was the retention of the majority of the squad which helped Leigh secure promotion back in to Super League, including PNG duo Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam as well as former Kangaroo Blake Ferguson.

Leigh Leopards already know they will face Wakefield Trinity at St James' Park for Magic Weekend in June next year, tickets for which go on sale Sunday 23 October, but fans will have to wait until full fixtures are announced next month to find out which team they will face in their first Super League game as the Leopards.
