Catapult stats tracker: Ashton goes up a gear
28 Feb 2023

Matty Ashton hit an impressive top speed during a length of the field dash against the Giants in Round 2 on Friday Night. The Warrington flyer reached a max velocity of 35.87km/h - the top speed of 2023 so far - and a speed which would have registered in the top five quickest times in 2022.
Ashton's Warrington teammate Matt Dufty recorded the second fastest speed of the round during the same match, hitting a top speed of 34.26km/h. Daryl Powell looks to have found the perfect blend of power, skill and speed across the pitch if the opening two rounds are anything to go by.
For the second week in succession, Catalans Dragons young half back Cesar Rouge topped the distance covered charts. Rouge covered an impressive 9535 metres in Round 2 - an improvement on his chart topping 9153 metres a week earlier. Early Man of Steel leader Jordan Abdull covered 9116 metres in Round 2, whilst Rouge's teammate Arthur Mourgue was close behind with 9113 metres covered.
Despite suffering a defeat in Round 2, Huddersfield Giants players dominated the intensity charts. Ashton Golding led the way with an intensity of 111 metres per minute, with Will Pryce just behind him (110 m/min). Theo Fages and Nathan Peats shared the third highest intensity, both recording intensities of 107m/min.
