Krisnan Inu: Every game is a final
31 Aug 2023

Salford Red Devils face the unenviable task of travelling to Wigan in Round 24 to take on the red hot Wigan Warriors. Matt Peet's side dismantled the table topping Catalans Dragons in the South of France last weekend, putting the rest of the Betfred Super League competition on notice.
With the battle for the Play-Offs intensifying each week, Salford can ill-afford many more slip ups. Red Devils assistant coach Krisnan Inu spoke to the media ahead of their trip to Wigan and discussed the importance of maintaining their momentum following back-to-back league wins.
"It brings confidence winning the last two leading into these bigger games," explained Inu.
"Every game is a final for us now leading into the Play-Offs and we want to be in that mix, and these are the games you want to be playing before those finals come around."
The two sides have met twice already in the league this season, with Wigan ending both games victorious. But all that goes out of the window on Friday as the Red Devils look to make it third time lucky.

"They've [Wigan] been one of the top four teams all season and they showed it last week against Catalans, performing the way they did against the top side. They're going to be a tough outfit for us this weekend," admitted Inu.
"Wigan are tough. We'll be playing to our strengths, and we've prepared ourselves well for the game."
This year's Super League competition has been one of the most hotly contested. With such small margins separating teams in and around the Play-Offs - as well as at the foot of the table - Inu understands the importance of staying focused right until the end.
"The leagues been interesting for everyone and it's great to see everyone fighting for that top six. It only takes two wins and you're in the top four and it only takes two losses and you're out of the six. Everyone's got to be on their toes."

"Everyone's in the mix and every game is a final and there's no better way to finish the season off by playing the better teams."
"It's massively important that we can grind out results. Leading into bigger games you're going to need to be on top of your game and last week's results give us confidence defensively."
Salford travel to Wigan to face a Warriors side full of confidence. And with a passionate fanbase behind them, the Red Devils will need to be at their best to earn a victory.
"It's a great atmosphere at wigan. The fans are loud and I'm sure our fans will be just as loud. Whenever you go to wigan you need to be prepared for war."
"Wigan are tough. We'll be playing to our strengths, and we've prepared ourselves well for the game."
