Cust confident of Salford success
19 Dec 2023

Salford's new recruit Cade Cust is ready to reignite the fire at the Red Devils in 2024 and is confident that the club can achieve big things in the upcoming Betfred Super League season.
Cust joins Salford from current Super League Champions Wigan Warriors, and has enjoyed a successful two-year stint there, having won the Betfred Challenge Cup during his first season, followed by the League Leaders' Shield and Super League Grand Final in 2023. Therefore, he is no stranger to being part of a team that can win silverware - and knows exactly what is required to reach the top.
With previous experience playing in the NRL for Manly Sea Eagles, Cust should bring his A-game and versatility to Salford, having played both in the halves and at hooker - and will be hoping to make a strong impact from the start.

Speaking to Salford Red Devils, Cust commented on his first week spent at the club, after
signing a one-year deal last month:
"It's been very enjoyable. I feel like I've fit in really well with the boys and coaching staff. Everyone's been really welcoming, and it's been an easy transition."
Cust is already familiar with some of his Salford team-mates from both Wigan Warriors and Down Under, making the move a much smoother one - and the Red Devils' new playmaker has already been given an insight of what life will be like as a Salford Red Devil.
"They gave me a bit of an idea. They told me about the place, how enjoyable it is and what a close-knit circle they have. That made me really want to join."
Cust is set to partner scrum-half Marc Sneyd in 2024 and is relishing the opportunity to play in a pivotal role alongside him - holding Sneyd in high regard.

"His kicking game is outstanding and his leadership on the field will help me a lot along the way. I can hone my game and I'm looking forward to it," Cust told Salford Red Devils.
With Cust and Sneyd combined, the pair are predicted to be a real threat to teams with the creativity and energy they can bring. A key partnership could be in the making, with both complementing one another's attributes and abilities, and working to provide the expansive play head coach Paul Rowley expects from his team in 2024.
And Cust has outlined exactly what he can offer during his time in Salford colours:
"I can bring my running game. I think I am a powerful six, and hopefully I play plenty of games and get plenty of wins for this club.
"The main thing for me is playing consistent rugby league week in and week out, putting wins on the board and contributing to the team."

Expectations will be high from Salford fans next year, as they will look for nothing less than a top-six finish this time out - and Cust has reassured the Red Devils faithful that they have all to look forward to in 2024. With Cust's clear ambitions, it's fair to say their fans can start to feel a little bit excited for what's to come.
"We're going to be a very attacking team. I think this year is going to be very exciting for Salford fans - it should be very interesting to watch us play.
"I think the only thing you want to achieve is trophies. Personally, I'm very competitive and I want to show that on the field. First, I'll show this at training and make sure the boys know what type of bloke they have playing."
