Fantasy League debrief

As February comes to a close, we take a look at the top performers and fantasy flops in Fantasy Week Two.

Will you be making any transfers before the end of the month? It's worth noting that transfers will reset to four per every team at the beginning of March...

Top performers

St Helens full back Super Jack Welsby takes the crown for the top performer of the week as Saints made it two wins from two.

Welsby was at the heart of the St Helens attack on Saturday, producing a try and four assists - which takes Saints' star man to eight assists in just two Betfred Super League matches this season. 246 metres also helped Welsby claim a huge 144 fantasy points.

As Saints faced newly promoted Wakefield Trinity in Round 3, is it worth taking a punt on the England number 1 ahead of Thursday's 6pm deadline?

Coming in second this week is another full back, fancy Jai Field, who starred in the champions' away success at Hull FC.

Wigan Warriors' Field may have only scored a total of seven tries last season, but certainly got his tally up and running on Friday - with a hat-trick in their first win of the season.

Field surpassed his Round 1 score of 39 points, with 92 fantasy points claimed in Round 2.

Is now the time to cash in on Field as the Warriors head to Las Vegas?

Alex Walmsley becomes another Saint to make the top 3 this weekend and has made a solid start to the 2025 campaign.

The stalwart prop is currently the leading scorer in his position, with 153 fantasy points from just two rounds - including a 77-point haul this week.

Walmsley went over for a try and was just shy of making 200 metres during his side's comprehensive victory against Castleford Tigers.

Will Walmsley be joining your team in the coming weeks?

Just like Walmsley, Catalans Dragons centre Matthieu Laguerre also attained 77 fantasy points in Round 2 - an impressive amount of points despite being on the losing side.

The centre scored twice and made over 100 metres at the Luke Littler Stadium on Friday against Warrington Wolves.

After missing Round 1, is he a player you need to consider for your Fantasy team this season?

Fantasy Flops

With prices in mind, Luke Keary is proving to be an expensive player to carry. With just 14 points amassed in Round 2, it takes Keary to a total of just 38 fantasy points from the opening two rounds.

Six stand-offs claimed more points over this weekend alone, than Keary’s tally from the opening fortnight. At 170k, Keary is a risky proposition.

Former Trinity man, Kelepi Tanginoa, would have hoped for a greater showing during the Robins' success in Round 2. But the second rower was one of the lowest point scorers, claiming just 7 points - one point more than in Round 1. The forward featured for just 24 minutes against Wakefield.

At 125k, is Tanginoa a player you’ll be looking to transfer out?

As Fantasy's top points scorer in 2023, Rhinos captain Cameron Smith is usually a reliable player to have in your fantasy side.

But with only 21 points scored on Saturday, this could be classed as a flop by his Smith's standards.

Smith did perform well in Round 1, however, with 71 points obtained. But only 35 minutes of action, limited his impact and points scoring ability the following round. At 160k, if Smith’s minutes are to be continually reduced in the future, then he could be a player who needs to be rotated.
