Round 13 Preview

We’re almost at the halfway stage of the 2025 Betfred Super League regular season; can you believe it?

It’s Round 13, an unlucky number for some, but who will be our winners this weekend?

Thursday 29 May

Huddersfield Giants v Leigh Leopards (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

The round kicks off with Huddersfield hosting Leigh at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Leopards were consigned to defeat against Hull FC in Round 12, while the Giants have failed to back up their emphatic victory at Magic WKND, almost a month ago.

They last faced off in Round 2 when Leigh took a 24-10 win.

Huddersfield's new signing Tristan Powell is included in the squad and could make his Giants debut on Thursday evening.

Matty English, Aidan McGowan, Fenton Rogers, Jack Murchie, Liam Sutcliffe and Niall Evalds still out with respective injuries.

For Leigh, David Armstrong returns to the 21-man squad, which is a huge lift for Adrian Lam's side.

Friday 30 May

Hull KR v St Helens (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

There’s a showdown at Sewell Group Craven Park on Friday as Hull KR go head-to-head with St Helens.

Hull KR are still high-flying at the top of the Super League table and will be hoping to keep it this way ahead of their Betfred Challenge Cup Final next Saturday.

Standing in their way of the two points could be Paul Wellens’ men in the Red V, who have won their last two matches by considerable margins.

Saints have overturned Huddersfield and Catalans in recent weeks and will be aiming to make it three wins on the spin.

KR’s main man Mikey Lewis has scored tries in his sides' last five meetings with St Helens – will he be pivotal once again in Round 13?

There's only one change to the Robins side this week with AJ Wallace coming into the squad to replace Lee Kershaw.

Similarly, Saints have just two changes - Matt Whitley is back available for selection after a HIA. Harry Robertson also returns for the first time since Saints' home win over Wakefield back in early April.

Jon Bennison and Jake Davies are the Saints who step out of the squad selection this time.

Salford Red Devils v Wigan Warriors (20.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

The current champions are at away to Salford on Friday night and are hot on Hull KR’s heels in the top two of the Super League table.

Wigan have won their last 13 meetings with Salford, with star man Bevan French scoring tries in the Warriors' last four meetings with the Red Devils.

Matt Peet has made two changes to his squad as Harvey Makin and Kian McDermott replace the injured Luke Thompson and Sam Walters.

Warrington Wolves v Castleford Tigers (20.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

The Friday night feast of Super League continues at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

With Wembley on the horizon, the Wolves will undoubtedly have some of their focus on the fact they have reached back-to-back Challenge Cup Finals.

But firstly, they have Castleford Tigers to contend with. The Wolves have beaten Castleford comfortably in recent seasons but cannot underestimate their opposition on Friday.

Who will have full focus in Round 13?

Toby King, Paul Vaughan and Lachlan Fitzgibbon all return to Warrington's matchday squad with Marc Sneyd and Sam Powell also set to feature after sitting out last Friday's game against Hull KR.

Oli Leyland is ruled out with the club awaiting scan results after the half-back came off injured in last week's game against the Robins. Jordy Crowther was withdrawn towards the end of the match too but is included. Connor Wrench is not named in the squad.

The Tigers are without skipper Sam Wood and powerhouse Tom Amone in Round 13 and they have been replaced with Josh Hodson and George Hill.

Saturday 31 May

Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity (16.30) – live on BBC, Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Leeds Rhinos will continue the legacy left by Rob Burrow CBE as they aim to raise awareness and funds for the MND community with the annual MND Awareness game when the Rhinos welcome local rivals Wakefield Trinity to AMT Headingley on Saturday.

Wakefield are coached by Daryl Powell, who gave Burrow his full debut as a teenager back in 2001.

The game will be even more poignant as it comes 48 hours before the first anniversary of Burrow’s passing last year on June 2.

Leeds will wear a special one-off fundraising kit for the game which features an iconic image of Burrow from his playing days made up of the names of the 196 players that Rob played with for club and representative sides along with the names his three children and wife Lindsey.

Last year, the MND Awareness shirt raised over £80,000 to help support the Leeds Hospitals Charity’s appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND. In 2025, the donation will be made the MND Association, who Burrow was a patron of.

Nearly 40 of Burrow’s former team-mates will be at the game on Saturday along with Rob’s parents Geoff and Irene Burrow, who will be joined by Rob’s sisters Claire and Joanne to present the match ball ahead of the game. There will also be a minute’s applause before kick-off to pay tribute to Burrow and the legacy he has left to the MND community.

On the pitch, the teams are in their finest form, as they both look to extend their winning runs to four games.

12 rounds have passed since the Rhinos and Trinity last met in the season opener and after a tight contest back in February, it's no surprise both sides occupy spots in the top six of the Super League table.

Trinity ran out 12-14 victors in Round 1 against the Rhinos and are searching for their third consecutive win over Leeds for the first time ever.

If the hosts are victorious, then they’ll keep a hold of third place heading into cup week. A win for Wakefield, however, would see them take their nearest and dearest.

Catalans Dragons v Hull FC (17.30) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Round 13 will conclude with a clash in the south of France between Catalans and Hull FC.

The Black & Whites have already beaten the Dragons once in 2025 and this result could be rather significant in terms of league standings.

A win for Hull and John Cartwright’s side will move five points clear of the Dragons. But a win for Catalans on Saturday night and they will keep up the pressure and push to be part of the mix for the top six.
