Round 10 of the Betfred Women’s Super League saw the top four continue their dominance - Wigan Warriors, St Helens, York Valkyrie and Leeds Rhinos all prevented their opposition from scoring, leaving the league table untouched.
The unbeaten Wigan Warriors retained the top spot with a 72-0 win over local rivals Leigh Leopards. Four tries from Grace Banks saw her not only lead her team to victory, but also surpass teammate Eva Hunter to become the completion’s leading try scorer with sixteen tries for the season. Hunter’s two tries against Leigh see her closely behind with fifteen.
St Helens faced Huddersfield Giants in a double header with the Men’s team at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Both St Helens sides were victorious, with a Dani McGifford hat-trick securing a 48-0 win for the women.
The biggest victory of the day was for York Valkyrie who secured an 86 point win against Warrington Wolves. A hat-trick from Savannah Andrade led the Valkyrie to victory with a struggling Wolves still on the hunt for their first win of the season.
The final game was between Leeds Rhinos and Barrow Raiders at the Northern Competitions Stadium. Fifteen tries from Leeds, including two hat-tricks from Lucy Murray and Ebony Stead, saw them execute a 78-0 victory. Stead’s hat-trick sees her move to 15 tries for the season, sitting alongside Eva Hunter.
With just one point separating Wigan and St Helens at the top of the competition tree there is still all to play for as we move on to Round 11 this Sunday…
