Smith staying with Trinity
29 Aug 2025

Harvey Smith has agreed a new five-year deal with Wakefield Trinity which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2030 season.
The deal comes as Wakefield continue to invest and retain their promising young players with the likes of Ellis Lingard, Oliver Pratt and Jayden Myers already on long term deals.
Smith has been a breakout star of Super League in 2025 playing in 20 games so far this season becoming an integral part of Wakefield’s charge for the play-offs.
The 19-year old made his Trinity First Team debut in the final game of the 2023 Super League season against Hull KR coming off the bench and went on to feature 13 times during the club’s 2024 Championship campaign.
After signing his new five-year deal, Harvey Smith said: “I am really pleased to re-sign with Wakefield until 2030. The club is going in a really good direction and I can’t wait to be a part of that. I’d like to thank all the coaches, players as well as Matt and his family for helping turn around the club and for putting us in a position where we will be challenging for silverware in the near future.”
Trinity’s Head Coach, Daryl Powell said: “Harvey has been superb over the last two years and grown into a genuine Super League hooker at a very young age. His speed and toughness make him a real threat to defences and he puts his body on the line on defence. He is a pleasure to coach and we are confident he will continue to develop and mature over the next few years.”
Director of Rugby, Ste Mills also said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Harvey has committed his future to Wakefield Trinity. He’s one of the brightest young hookers in the game, and to secure him on a long-term deal is a huge boost for the club.
"Harvey represents everything we want in a Wakefield player – talent, toughness, and a desire to keep improving – and we believe he can go on to be a cornerstone of this team for years to come.”
