Romano makes the move to Hull FC

Hull FC have signed Arthur Romano from Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old Frenchman will leave his home country behind as he heads to join the Black & Whites for the 2026 season, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal that will keep him at the MKM Stadium until the end of the 2027 campaign.

Romano becomes Hull’s seventh signing ahead of the 2026 campaign, joining Sam Lisone, Jake Arthur, Connor Bailey, Joe Batchelor, James Bell and Harvie Hill on the list of players set to begin their FC journeys in the new year.

With Hull looking to address squad depth this off-season, Romano’s addition will offer some healthy competition amongst the outside backs.

He will arrive in East Yorkshire for the start of pre-season training in November, bringing over 120 games of experience to the squad.

Romano cut his teeth at Catalans’ Reserve side, Saint-Esteve, before making his senior debut for the Dragons against the Black & Whites in the Challenge Cup in 2017.

A couple of loan spells with fellow French outfit, Toulouse Olympique, in his fledgling years brought about more experience for the outside back, before going on to hold down a more permanent position in the Catalans starting squad.

He has also made nine appearances for the French international side, including three games at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, where he scored a try against the English outfit.

Speaking to hullfc.com ahead of his move across the Channel, Romano said: “It’s an honour to join a historic club like Hull FC, with its proud tradition and passionate supporters.

“I’m really excited to take on this new challenge in a different country and culture, and I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates.

“I’m fully committed to giving my best every day and working hard to help the team achieve its goals.”

Hull FC Director of Rugby, Gareth Ellis, added: “As somebody who has played nearly 100 Super League games, Arthur is a great pick up for us because of the competition he will offer for places in the outside backs.

“We know we need to add some quality in depth to the squad, and I think if you look at some of the recruits we have made for 2026, you can say we are taking the right steps to address that.

“Arthur is an evasive player, one of the key attributes you need as a modern day outside back. He’s strong, powerful, fast. He is a great addition to our squad for 2026 and I’m looking forward to seeing him in our Black & White colours.”
