Daryl Powell expecting tough challenge

Castleford Tigers host Wigan Warriors at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Castleford Tigers look to avoid a third-straight defeat in their Betfred Super League round-nine fixture against Wigan Warriors at the Mend-A-Hose jungle on Friday night.

The Tigers are hoping for a result, while the reigning champions are bidding for a third-successive victory after turning around their fortunes.

Castleford coach Daryl Powell said: “I hate losing one, never mind three out of the last four, but you’ve got to deal with wins and losses in the right way. We’ll find out on Friday where we’re at.

“It will be a tough challenge. They’ve got some players coming back and they look like they’re coming into some form now.??

Reunions will also be the order of the day in Friday’s other matches.

Forward Matt Davis is set to make his Warrington Wolves debut against his old club London Broncos at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, a week after returning from a month’s loan with them, while Huddersfield Giants will go up against their old captain Danny Brough when they visit Wakefield Trinity.

The 36-year-old Brough, who played a pivotal role in the Giants’ League Leaders’ Shield triumph in 2013, was released with a year left on his contract but coach Simon Woolford believes his side are starting to cope without the goalkicking half-back.

“I think everyone will agree that our halves combination is getting better every week and we’ve had a couple of really good games over the last month,?? said Woolford, whose side are also aiming for a third-successive win.

“Our kicking game has been fantastic.

"Without Brough here, Lee Gaskell has taken more responsibility and we’ve got Matt Frawley, Adam O’Brien, Kruise Leeming and even Jordan Turner who’ve done some kicking so we’ve been able to mix it up and share the workload.??
