Adam Hills: Anfield, ANZ and BAFTA's

“I initially got involved to help support it, not to be a player, now I look around to see how much fun everyone else is having.

He’s the Australian born comedian, Rugby League player, and host of Channel 4’s The Last Leg, Adam Hills. He’s the face of The Last Leg alongside his colleagues Josh Widdecombe and Alex Brooker, the latter will join Hills on the pitch at Anfield for the 2019 Dacia Magic Weekend.

Hills grew up in the Cronulla-Sutherland area of Australia, his Grandfather grew up by Sydney Harbour Bridge, so he supports South Sydney Rabbitohs home to the Burgess brothers; Sam, George and Tom.

Hills is not only the face of The Last Leg but the face of the all new Physical Disability Rugby League, his side Warrington Wolves will play Leeds Rhinos at Anfield in front of a record crowd for PDRL in England.

“It’s a weird one for me, because I didn’t grow up with a football culture but I am aware of what Anfield means to people.

“I think when I get there it will hit me, because I’ve never experienced it before, but just seeing the excitement amongst the lads that we’re going to be playing at Magic Weekend.

“Ever since I have been playing PDRL I have moments where I feel guilty because I think I’m enjoying it too much.

“I initially got involved to help support it, not to be a player, now I look around to see how much fun everyone else is having.

"It’s moments like this when I see how buzzed everyone is - even just on the WhatsApp group - it kind of just makes me happier than when I have moments like that,?? said Hills.

Warrington Wolves PDRL team were crowned champions at Hills’ home stadium the ANZ Stadium in a curtain raiser for South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL clash at Wests Tigers.

Hills said: “I’d been to the ANZ Stadium to watch the Olympics, and I’d watched the Rabbitohs there a whole bunch of times. For me to walk out onto that pitch felt really special.

“To have some of my heroes watching – some of the Rabbitohs players were on the sidelines – and Russell Crowe came into the dressing room.

“To think that we’ve played at the ANZ Stadium, Halliwell Jones, Headingley, Redfern and now Anfield, we’re clocking up some amazing venues for this sport.

“I’ve been quite nervous about it today, thinking I’m going to be playing at Anfield and I don’t want to mess anything up – I just had to keep reminding myself - this is why I am doing it, we’re here to make sure as many people as possible see it.??

Hills played in Wakefield a few weeks ago during the day, at night he was at the BAFTA’s with his colleagues from The Last Leg.

“My major stress was getting from Wakefield to South Bank in London, I got changed into my tuxedo on the train on the way to BAFTA’s.

“I genuinely considered going to the BAFTA’s in my Wolves gear, I thought it would’ve been a funny way of attending the event, but I thought decorum would probably take precedence,?? he laughed.

You can watch Adam Hills at Anfield on Saturday with tickets available from the ticket office!
