Aston signs for Broncos

London Broncos have announced the signing of Cory Aston from Castleford Tigers on a two year deal.
Aston will join the Broncos ahead of the 2020 season.
Having graduated from the Sheffield Eagles academy he made his debut in 2013 after signing a five-year deal. He went on to play a total of 61 games for the Eagles, scoring 308 points in the process.
In 2016, Sheffield sold Aston to Super League side Leeds Rhinos on a three-year deal, beating off the likes of Wigan and Warrington for his signature.
Aston was released by the Rhinos at the end of the 2017 season and in December of that year he signed a two-year deal for the Super League winners and Grand Finalists Castleford Tigers.
In late January, Aston agreed yet another loan deal to the Championship as he rejoined his father, Mark, at Sheffield where he played very successfully alongside current Broncos player Matty Fozard. Aston played 23 more times in this spell scoring nine tries in the process.
Cory finally made his Super League debut in round 11 of the 2019 season vs Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, where he started at halfback and scored a try.
Cory told us, “I had interest from London last year and it was appealing to me but it wasn’t the right time in my personal life. The opportunity has come again to join the capital side and I’ve jumped at the chance.??
“I love the way the Broncos have played this season and after speaking to Danny Ward and people like Eddie Battye and Matty Fozard about the togetherness of everyone at the club, it’s now something I am really looking forward to.??
“I want to thank all the coaching staff at Castleford who have worked so hard in giving me my Super League debut. The boys at the Tigers are a fantastic bunch and I will miss them all. My agent has been a huge part in this deal and so a big thanks goes to him too.??
“Lastly I have to thank my better half, Lucy, as without her agreeing to move down south this would not have happened!??
Broncos Head coach Danny Ward said, “Its great news that Cory has decided to join the Broncos next year and we look forward to working with him.??
“He has been playing well for Cas in Super League this year and we are sure he’ll work well alongside Morgan Smith and Jimmy Meadows next season for us.??
“He is good young English half who has had to work hard to gain his opportunity at this level. He’s been in some good systems at Leeds and Castleford and earned his stripes playing plenty of games at Sheffield.??
