Catalans Dragons 27-10 Huddersfield Giants

Catalans Dragons bounced back from last week's defeat with a 27-10 Betfred Super League win over Huddersfield Giants at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Sam Tomkins led the way with a try and five goals, while Brayden Williame crossed for a pair of tries and Lewis Tierney also went over.

Matt Frawley and Oliver Roberts scored tries for the visitors with Izaac Farrell adding a goal.

After early Huddersfield pressure was rewarded when Frawley gave them the lead, Williame collected a kick behind the line to score and added his second from a steal to give Catalan a 12-6 advantage.

Tierney took advantage of an overlap as Catalans took an 18-6 lead into the break and a defensive mix-up allowed Tomkins to cross under the posts.

Roberts then grabbed a consolation score eight minutes from the end after gathering a kick into the in-goal area.

Matty Smith wrapped up the victory with a late drop-goal.

Huddersfield Giants coach Simon Woolford said: "All in all we’ve got to address our discipline and fast. I spoke to the guys after the game and the reason we’ve come up short in the first two rounds is in this room, it’s not because of the blokes that aren’t here, it’s these guys."

Catalans Dragons coach Steve McNamara said: "I thought we were good. It’s really some basics, completing your sets, kicking the ball well – which we didn’t do at the start of the game – and keeping your discipline, not giving too many penalties away because the games are really tough at this time of the year. If you’re on the wrong side of that then it becomes too difficult but I thought we were good tonight in those areas."
