Lewis wins Northern Try of the Season vote

Hull KR’s exciting young half-back has topped the fans poll to be named Northern Try of the Season for 2021.

Lewis, who recently signed a new long-term deal at Hull KR, scored the season award winning try in the Robins emphatic 19-0 victory over Warrington Wolves in the first week of the Betfred Super League play-offs.

The 2021 season has been a breakout season for City of Hull academy product, Lewis. This season saw him make 12 Super League appearances for the Robins in which he provided seven try assists as well as crossing the whitewash eight times himself.

Lewis was presented with his trophy by Hull KR Assistant Coach, and all-time leading try scorer in Super League, Danny Mcguire.

Lewis said of his try: “When I put the ball down, it didn’t really sink in until I looked around and everyone is running in, I looked at the crowd and they were all going crazy!??

“People ask me what was I thinking at the time, it was just to play with my eyes up. That’s what I’ve learnt to do over the last year.

“I take my hat off to everyone that has voted for me, it is appreciated and hopefully there is a lot more to come next year.??

The top three, as voted for by fans, were;

Winner: Mikey Lewis (Hull KR)

Second: Will Pryce (Giants)

Third: Jack Brown (Hull FC)

During the 2022 season fans will again be able to pick the Northern Try of the month and Try of the season.
