Fantasy League debrief

Top performers

Fantasy League powerhouse John Bateman returned with a bang in Round 13 thanks to a huge 90-point return. Bateman scored convincingly across the board with a try, 34 tackles, 105 run metres, two offloads and a clean break.

Meanwhile, James Bentley recorded his best score of the 2022 season - the Rhinos second rower finished with 83 points despite being sin-binned, as he crossed for two tries, made two clean breaks, four tackle busts and 33 tackles.

Hat-trick hero Joe Burgess offered a great return in Round 13, too. Priced at just 95K, he scored 82 points thanks to his try scoring antics, as well as four clean breaks, six tackle busts and 141 run metres.

Fantasy flops

Jake Mamo went from Fantasy hero to zero after scoring just four points in Round 13. Mamo top scored in the previous round after a 94-point return but had a week to forget this time round. He was brought off early on after a shaky start against the Red Devils on Friday and didn't return to the field.

Brad Dwyer was reduced to just 10 minutes from the bench in Round 13, significantly effecting his Fantasy scoring. Dwyer managed just 12 points – at an impressive rate of more than a point a minute – but was unable to make any further dent in his total.

Fantasy front row favourite Ligi Sao made a worrying exit over the weekend. Sao has been a constant figure for Hull FC in 2022 and a consistent Fantasy scorer, but left the field injured after just 19 minutes, scoring 22 points. Fantasy owners will need to keep a close eye on Sao’s fitness ahead of Round 14 in just over a week’s time.

Looking ahead

With the Challenge Cup taking precedent this weekend, Fantasy owners have a chance to reset when Betfred Super League returns in June. All eyes will be on the fitness of Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants players after their huge Cup Final clash. The game could have big ramifications in Fantasy League, with four of the top 10 overall points scorers featuring - and there will be likely be changes to both squads heading into Round 14.

Popular 2022 Fantasy option Frankie Halton made a welcome return for Hull KR on the weekend and made an immediate impact from the bench. Halton scored 53 points from his 54-minute display and looks to be a great option to cover for Liam Farrell or John Bateman should either be rested following the Cup Final.
