Round 5 Team of the Week

Castleford Tigers got their 2023 season up & running with a win against Leeds Rhinos. Greg Eden was named Betfred Player of the Match after he provided two assists. Liam Watts Adam Milner also put in big shifts in the Tigers' pack.

Table toppers Warrington Wolves registered a 5th win in a row to kick-off 2023. Matty Ashton scored a hat-trick of tries in the second half whilst Josh Drinkwater put in his most impressive performance in Primrose & Blue to date. Daryl Clark also continued his resurgent start to the year.

Wigan Warriors bounced back from their loss to Catalans Dragons. Jake Wardle returned to haunt his former side Huddersfield Giants with a try and an assist for the Warriors.

Friday's televised fixtures saw champions St Helens face Hull FC. James Bell put in a standout performance for Saints, which included a key try assist late on in the game. Brad Fash, as he always seems to be, was everywhere for the Black & Whites.

Tom Johnstone was in fine form for the Dragons in Perpignan. The Dragons' new signing scored his second hat-trick of the season and now has eight on the year. There were two assists for Tyrone May in a 26-12 win for Steve McNamara's side.

Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity needed golden point to separate them in the final match of Round 5. Replacing the injured Tim Lafai, Matty Costello crossed for the Red Devils' opening try and was a rock defensively for Paul Rowley's Red Devils. In defeat, Jai Whitbread made over 180 metres for Trinity.
