Saints duo set for spell on sidelines
25 Jul 2023

Saints head coach, Paul Wellens, today confirmed that Alex Walmsley and Agnatius Paasi will both be spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines following medical scans after injuries sustained in the Betfred Challenge Cup semi-final against Leigh Leopards.
Paasi looks set to miss nine months of action having suffered ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral ligament), and ankle ligament injuries.
Walmsley will also miss the rest of the 2023 campaign having also injured his MCL, which was operated on today.
Wellens confirmed Saints will be down on numbers for this week's clash with Leeds Rhinos (Friday 28 July, live on Sky Sports) as Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Morgan Knowles also picked up knocks in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
In a week which saw Joey Lussick play his final game for St Helens before returning to Australia and Moses Mbye joining the red vee on an immediate deal from St George, Paul Wellens will be hoping his team can keep a good run of form into the play-offs.
