Peters named September's Betfred Coach of the Month

Hull KR's Willie Peters has been named as the Betfred Coach of the Month for September following a faultless run of victories in the final month of the regular season.

Last month saw Peters lead his team to impressive victories over play-off rivals Salford Red Devils and Catalans Dragons as well as Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity to extent their end of season run to six straight wins and help them secure fourth spot in the table and a chance to make their first ever appearance in a Grand Final.

The voting panel commented: "The work Peters has done to re-galvanise the team after Wembley disappointment has shone through at the back end of the season and to take fourth place on the back of a winning run deserves tremendous credit. 

"The Robins are not just winning; they're winning with style and beat one of the season's best in Catalans, and nilled a dangerous Salford."

On receiving the accolade, Peters commented: "It's an honour to receive Coach of the Month. The players and staff have worked extremely hard after a setback there in Wembley. 

"They say you get your best learnings from losing Grand Finals and big games.

"We certainly took our learnings and the players and staff have shown the character within this team to turn the season around and now we're playing on Saturday (against Wigan) to get into a Grand Final."

This Saturday (7 October) sees Hull KR travel to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Warriors live on Sky Sports and Channel 4 as they face-off to secure a Grand Final spot at Old Trafford on Saturday 14 October.
