Round 8 Team of the Week

Round 8's Team of the Week...

Giants trio Adam Clune, Adam Swift, and Esan Marsters all played pivotal roles in Huddersfield's outstanding victory over Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

Clune and Marsters combined for their side's first try of the evening, as the number 7's looping pass found Marsters in the centres - an individual who racked up an insane 215 metres in Round 8 - who side-stepped his way over.

Their team-mate Swift, who certainly knows his way to the try line, also kept up with his superb scoring run, grabbing his 14th try in eight games, as Clune's creative masterclass continued.

This was before Clune himself came up with the exhilarating match-winner and raced 70 metres to score - the Giants claiming a memorable win at Headingley, which was their first there in six years.

Saints duo Sione Mata'utia and Mose Mbye are recognised for their efforts in their side's nilling of Hull FC. Combined, they share the best attacking and defensive stats for St Helens in Round 8, as Paul Wellens' men bounced back in style.

Bevan French and Junior Nsemba both feature for Wigan this week, as the Warriors achieved back-to-back wins over Castleford Tigers.

French's fantastic individual effort and two try assists ensured a comfortable win for the hosts, whilst Nsemba emerged as Wigan's top metre maker and second top tackler.

Warrington were winners once again in Round 8, with Lachlan Fitzgibbon and James Harrison making a massive impact in both attack and defence.

Fitzgibbon crashed over for his first try of the 2024 Betfred Super League campaign, with Harrison coming up with a mammoth 34 tackles to see his side to a hard fought victory.

Theo Fages was the star of the show for current league leaders Catalans, as an unstoppable Dragons dominated against Hull KR.

The rejuvenated half-back was in support to score a cracking Catalans try before the break and was the beating heart of the action on Saturday.

He is joined by team-mates Ben Garcia and Matt Ikuvalu - captain Garcia with four tackle busts, as well as making the most tackles in his team (37), and Ikuvalu with a wonderful try and try assist. Both caused trouble for their opponents, with their contributions further extending Catalans' lead.

Salford's Deon Cross also appears in Round 8's Team of the Week, as he cemented the Red Devils' victory over London Broncos with an early match-winner.
