Round 9 Team of the Week

Round 9's Team of the Week...

Match-winner Jonny Lomax appears in this week's Team of the Week, as his last-gasp drop goal clinched a victory for St Helens which also saw them move to the top of the Betfred Super League table.

Calm and collected as ever, Lomax slotted the one-pointer over with a minute left on the clock, making it three wins on the spin for the Saints.

The efforts of Huddersfield's Luke Yates did not go unnoticed however, the captain making an incredible 61 tackles - 17 more than the second top tackler of the match.

A trio of Robins try-scorers are included - Sauaso "Jesse" Sue, Oliver Gildart and Kelepi Tanginoa, as Hull KR stormed to victory over the current Champions Wigan Warriors.

Sue opened the scores to kick-start his side's momentum, before Gildart grabbed a try against his former club and Tanginoa raced the length of the field to touch down.

Three Leigh Leopards feature in Round 9's Team of the Week, following their sensational home victory over Catalans Dragons.

Fans witnessed a Matt Moylan masterclass on Friday night from the full-back position, as he conjured up two assists to two Leigh tries, as well as scoring one of his own in a tremendous solo effort.

He is joined by team-mate Tom Amone, who produced a mammoth 32 tackles and ran for a staggering 160 metres in just 18 carries, including his brilliant break which paved way for the opening try.

Try-scorer Kai O'Donnell is also included, as he bagged a brace in what was Leigh's first ever victory over the Dragons - and a memorable one it was too.

Castleford Tigers will be feeling slightly more relieved after their 40-0 defeat of London Broncos. In what was an impressive and collective team performance, Innes Senior and Paul McShane join the 11 other players in Round 9's Team of the Week.

Senior is proving a try-scoring machine for the Tigers this season, as he leads the way as their top try-scorer with nine tries, and the second top try-scorer in the Super League charts. He contributed to Castleford's crucial win on Friday - scoring on either side of half-time.

Likewise, McShane cooked up one of his classics, as he scooted over from dummy half to go over for his side's third try. As well as this, the hooker played a key role with his leadership on the field, and came up with a clever try assist.

Salford snatched a victory over Warrington and the Red Devils' opening try-scorer Tim Lafai also makes Round 9's Team of the Week for another consistent and top performance - both defensively and offensively.

Rhinos' youngster Riley Lumb also appears - the 19-year-old marking an unforgettable debut with a brace and a win against Hull FC on Sunday. This also earned him Player of the Match on the day, as Leeds Rhinos got a glimpse of a future star in the making.

Super League's current top try assister Brodie Croft also makes the cut, with Croft's contributions of two try assists ensuring Leeds Rhinos would emerge as victors.
