Brad Arthur named Betfred Coach of the Month for May

Brad Arthur has been named as Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for May following a run of results which saw his Leeds Rhinos side win four consecutive fixtures including a dramatic 18-16 win over Hull FC in Round 11.

The Rhinos month started with victory at St James’ Park as part of Magic WKND against St Helens, 4-17, with Morgan Gannon, Riley Lumb and Lachlan Miller on the scoresheet.

Returning to AMT Headingley Stadium, Leeds came from behind to beat Hull FC with a last-gasp Ryan Hall try proving the difference between the sides. Arthur’s men followed up with a comfortable 6-29 win against Castleford Tigers with both Sam Lisone and Harry Newman notching doubles.

Their month culminated back at AMT Headingley facing off against Wakefield Trinity as part of their annual MND Association fixture. Despite a late Trinity fightback, the Rhinos managed to hold for a 22-18 win with Newman, Lumb and Jake Connor crossing.

One member of the voting panel explained their support of Arthur: “You only need to look at the statistics to see the impact made on Leeds by Brad Arthur.

“Notably hungry as a team defensively keeping teams out bit can now take advantage of the quality across their back-line.

“May wasn’t always serene but there were equal portions of toughness and quality to see them through the month with maximum points.”

The voting panel for Betfred Coach of the Month is made up of selected members of the Rugby League media.
