Adrian Lam named Betfred Coach of the Month for July

Adrian Lam has been named as the Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for July following an unbeaten month including victories over three of the top five.

The Leopards kicked off July with an 18-8 victory in the Battle of the Borough at the Leigh Sports Village coming from 0-8 behind at half-time to beat Wigan Warriors. Tries from Owen Trout, Edwin Ipape and Tesi Niu completed a memorable Leopards comeback.

Leigh knocked off current Super League leaders Hull KR 28-10 one week later at the LSV. A double from Josh Charnley and four try involvements from halfback Lachlan Lam helped see off the Robins.

Lam’s side were on the road in Round 19, and a Joe Ofahengaue double saw them beat fellow play-off hopefuls at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

A fourth consecutive win came against Warrington Wolves thanks to a late Owen Trout try. The Leopards once again fighting from behind with two tries from Umyla Hanley before Trout’s winning effort. Leigh’s win against Warrington came on 1 August but is including for consideration in July as Round 20 got underway on 24 July. 

One member of the voting panel said: “I love the way Leigh play. It’s bold, adventurous and entertaining to watch but there’s character there too. It’s controlled creativity.”
