Sam Kasiano aiming for Grand Final

“The ultimate goal now, is to try and win Super League and I want to be a part of that."

Catalans Dragons announced the signing of Sam Kasiano at the beginning of March, the former Melbourne Storm forward agreed a three-year contract with the Perpignan side and is ready to challenge for the Grand Final.

The 28-year-old played six times for New Zealand including a World Cup final in 2013 against Australia, since then, he’s won five caps for Samoa and is ready for a fresh challenge.

“It’s a big challenge, I’ve got to try and do my best for the club and I want to win games.

“There’s a great squad here capable of doing great things and I want to be a part of that.

“The ultimate goal now, is to try and win Super League and I want to be a part of that,?? said Kasiano.

The Samoan prop joins Rémi Casty in Catalans’ pack, the two players previously played against each other at the 2013 World Cup in Avignon: “We played at Avignon and we swapped jerseys at the end of the game, I’ve still got his jersey at home.??

Kasiano left Storm for Catalans amid Melbourne’s salary cap dilemma, he had offers from NRL but chose France, after first hearing of Super League interest back when he was at Canterbury Bulldogs.

“I love Bulldogs that’s my team, so I wasn’t ready to leave back then. This year, I didn’t want to go to St George, and when I heard about the offer from Catalans, I wanted to come to France and so did my wife,?? admitted Kasiano.

Asked if he would be a target for Super League sides, he laughed: “100%??.

Steve McNamara was holding out for the right player to fulfil his overseas quota with only one place left to fill, it was Kasiano who could be thje last piece of Catalans’ jigsaw.

“He’s an absolute game-changer and can-do things other players absolutely cannot do.

“I’ve coached against him in Australia and at test level, if you’ve got momentum in the game, he can continue that to a different level.

“If you haven’t he can make you gain momentum and there’s not many players that can change that,?? said McNamara.

Kasiano could be in the squad for Saturday’s fixture against Leeds Rhinos, live on Sky Sports!
